Neti kriya is a type of yogic nasal cleansing exercise designed to purify the nose, nasal passages, and sinus cavities. The nasal cavities are rinsed with a saline solution (one teaspoonful of sea salt per half a litre of lukewarm water) using a small specialized container called a Neti Pot with a long spout. Daily practice helps maintain nasal hygiene by removing pollutants, dirt, and trapped bacteria in mucus from the nasal passages and clearing the sinuses allowing obstruction-free breathing. It can alleviate upper respiratory ailments like sore throats, rhinitis, tonsillitis, allergies, and inflammation of the mucus membrane.
